Input setting types

The setting types of settings_schema.json and section and block schemas, with the value Liquid receives.

Basic

Type	Summary
checkbox	An on/off switch.
number	A number field.
radio	One choice among a few, shown as radio buttons.
range	A slider between min and max, in steps.
select	One choice from a dropdown. Options can be grouped with “group”.
text	A single line of text.
textarea	Several lines of plain text.

Specialized

Type	Summary
article	Pick a blog post.
blog	Pick a blog.
collection	Pick a collection.
collection_list	Pick several collections. “limit” caps how many.
color	A color picker.
color_background	A CSS background (a color or gradient).
color_scheme	Pick one of the theme’s color schemes.
color_scheme_group	The theme’s color schemes (settings_schema.json only): named sets of colors.
custom_page	Pick one of the theme’s custom pages (custom_pages/).
font_picker	Pick a font (compatibility).
html	HTML the merchant writes.
image_picker	Pick or upload an image.
inline_richtext	Formatted text without paragraphs (bold, italic, links).
link_list	Pick a navigation menu.
liquid	Liquid the merchant writes (compatibility).
metaobject	Pick an entry of a metaobject type (“metaobject_type”).
metaobject_list	Pick several entries of a metaobject type.
page	Pick a page.
product	Pick a product.
product_list	Pick several products. “limit” caps how many.
richtext	Formatted text with paragraphs and lists.
text_alignment	Left, center or right alignment.
url	A link to a page of the store or another site.
video	Pick an uploaded video.
video_url	A YouTube or Vimeo link (“accept” lists which).
