Limits keep every storefront fast, and stop one theme’s mistake from slowing down a store.

Render time per page	2 seconds	The page fails with “This page can’t be shown right now.”
Iterations per loop	10,000	The loop stops early.
Iterations per page, all loops	100,000	Further loops don’t run.
Sections per page	200	Further sections show an error in previews.
Nesting of render, section and layout	10 levels	An error in previews.
Block nesting	8 levels	The theme check refuses the template.
Items per paginated page	250	Larger sizes are capped.
Sections per section rendering request	5	Extra IDs are ignored.
Predictive search results per type	10	Capped.

Staying fast

• Keep loops short: limit: on for, and paginate long lists.
• Don’t loop over collections or all_products to find one item: look it up by handle, collections['sale'].
• Render images with image_url and image_tag so they come resized from the CDN.
